LFP ‘Get in motion’ event on Saturday
Learn how to get around by bus, bicycle, foot and carpool at an all-day event 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 19 at Lake Forest Park Towne Center, 17171 Bothell Way NE.
The event will allow residents to tour buses provided by Metro Transit, get information about good walking shoes, purchase bike helmets for $10 and get their bike tuned. Free flashers will be given away, to make walkers more visible. Maps of the city’s bus routes, walking paths and businesses also will be available. For more information, call 206-296-4150.
Road re-paving program approved
Council members approved a work request with King County for the street re-paving for $500,000 at the June 14 Council meeting.
The money will be used to re-pave roads with pavement conditions with ratings of poor to failing, and which cannot be repaired using other means of treatment. Work is scheduled to begin this summer.
CIP public hearing set for June 28
Shoreline’s Capital Improvement Plan, (CIP) is a multi-year spending plan to restore, improve and expand the city’s infrastructure, which includes roads, sidewalks, trails, drainage, parks, and buildings owned and/or maintained by the city. The plan identifies projects and funding for improvements over the next six years and is updated annually. It also details the work to be done for each project and an expected time frame for completion.
City Council will discuss the proposed CIP at its June 21 and July 6 workshop meetings. A public hearing is scheduled for the Council’s June 28 regular meeting with adoption scheduled for the July 12 regular meeting. Workshop meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and regular meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. All meetings are held in the Rainier Room of the Shoreline Conference Center, 18560 First Ave. NE.

Public meeting to review intersection
The public is invited to attend a final open house meeting from 6–8 p.m. June 24 at Shoreline Community College, Pagoda Union Building 900. The open house is scheduled for the purpose of reviewing the 160th Street and Greenwood Avenue intersection options. The final recommendations will be forwarded to the city of Shoreline as part of the college’s Environmental Impact Study.
Plan public hearing June 22
Lake Forest Park’s Planning Commission wants resident’s thoughts about the second draft update to the city’s Comprehensive Plan. A public hearing on the plan is scheduled 7:30 p.m. June 22 in the council chambers, 17425 Ballinger Way NE.
The draft plan includes changes to the future land use map which may impact lots in the low and moderate density land use classification, a new section on economic development, and policies addressing Towne Center development. For more information, visit www.cityoflfp.com or call 206-368-5440.
