Give city budget input next week
The city of Mill Creek is hosting two “Town Hall” meetings at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 19, and Wednesday, July 21 at Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Mill Creek Blvd., to help develop priorities for the city’s 2005-2006 budget.
The purpose of these meetings is to obtain public input regarding the city’s budget challenges. Handheld electronic keypads will be used so participants can immediately view their responses in context with those of the other participants.

Wright appointed to sheriff’s board
Snohomish County Sheriff Rick Bart has appointed Chuck Wright of Mill Creek to the Sheriff’s Citizen Advisory Council.
The board will advise Bart about budgeting, reducing crime and brainstorm ways to make the sheriff’s office a more efficient agency.
Wright was appointed to the board primarily because of his 30-years of diverse experiences working within the criminal justice field. He is a retired state of Washington community corrections supervisor.
During his state service he controlled a $1 million budget, supervised 20 staff persons and worked directly with law enforcement personnel, victims and the courts.
In addition, he was an instructor at Seattle University, Central Washington University, University of Washington and Seattle Pacific University.
Skateboard classes upcoming
The city of Mill Creek will be holding a beginning skateboard for two days on Monday and Wednesday, July 26 and 28 at the Mill Creek Skate Park, 13903 North Creek Drive, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
The instructor, Aaron Fox, has been skateboarding for 15 years and performs in skateboard exhibitions around the area.

Youth theater camp next week
The city of Mill Creek is presenting a Happy Endings Musical Theatre Camp starting Monday, July 19. Camps will be held for two weeks, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mill Creek Elementary School. These camps are open to children entering grades 3 to 8.
The camp is two weeks of learning songs, dance routines, building stage confidence, and preparation to perform a musical for family, friends and the community during the camp.
Experience is not required. Classes are taught by Connie Gagnon and Dana Heinz-Skaggs. Cost is $160.

Donations needed for Rescue Pup
Rescue Pup, a Mill Creek-based non-profit organization that finds homes for stray sick and injured dogs, regularly needs donations to cover veterinary expenses.
Donations can be made at Pet Pleasers, a non-profit pet supply store the organization operates. Pet Pleasers is located next to Claire’s Pantry at the corner of 9th Avenue SE and 164th Street SE.

DARE chocolate shield fund raiser
Mill Creek police are selling police department chocolate shields for $2 to benefit the DARE program.
The shields were made from a mold that was designed with the Mill Creek water wheel and the words “Mill Creek Police.” The shields can be purchased at the police department’s service counter inside City Hall, 15728 Mill Creek Blvd.
