Brier has annual festival, parade
At 7 p.m. Aug. 11 is the city’s third annual Seascare Festival and Brier Realty Porch Light Parade. Hatched as an idea to replace
Brierfest, the Park Board, got creative and developed this festival centered around the business core of Brier, city officials said. All are welcome to join the parade. The theme is scary sea creatures, octopi, pirates, boats, nautical or any sea related idea.
All kids, classic car owners and anyone with a great parade idea are encouraged to participate. And, there will be prizes. Register for the parade on-line at: www.ci.brier.wa.us/seascare.
At 6 p.m. is the parade check-in and line up. Check in will be on the north side of 232nd on Brier Road.
At 7 p.m. the parade begins at the library (232nd) and moves south down Brier Road ending just past Brier Realty (238th).
Then don’t forget the Brier Realty Kids Carnival, food drive, book sale and local business trade show from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. During these times Brier businesses will be selling some items at discount prices. At 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 there will be an outdoor cinema event sponsored by Neapolis and Brier Grocery. Reverend Chumleigh comes to town again with this classic SeaScare theme movie “Atlantis, The Lost Continent.” There will be a cartoon intro then the movie. Bring lawn chairs to the Neapolis parking lot.

Free concert
in Brier Park
The Trolley Days Concert Band will be performing a free concert at 7 p.m. on July 22 at Brier Park, 2903 228th St. SW in Brier. Bring a chair or blanket. There will also be a library book sale and food drive.

Call for artists in Lynnwood
The Lynnwood Arts Commission is accepting applications from local and regional visual artists wishing to exhibit their work. Applications will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 20. The Lynnwood Library art gallery features monthly exhibits beginning January 2005 and continues through December 2005.
To apply, artists may submit an application consisting of: a letter of interests, up to 10 slides of work with slide list, an artists resume and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Lynnwood Arts Commission, City of Lynnwood, PO Box 5008, Lynnwood, WA 98046-5008. Lynnwood Rotary annual golf tourney
Save this date: The Rotary Club of Lynnwood will be having its annual Golf Scramble Tournament fundraiser at 1 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Everett Golf and Country Club. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. An individual golf fee costs $150 and includes 18 holes, with golf cart, range balls, T-prizes, box lunch and banquet dinner (guest may attend dinner for $30). Citizens can now go to a new website, www.courts.wa.gov, and look up their court dates by clicking on “find your court date” and entering a valid name or case number.
All courts in Washington including Lynnwood Municipal and South Snohomish County District Court are on the site except for Seattle Municipal Court.
Given that court proceedings may be rescheduled at any time, official said, users are encouraged to call their local court the morning of their appearance. An automated court directory is also available online via the Washington Courts website, combined with a “Courthouse Locator” which provides maps and directions to every courthouse throughout Washington State. Donate an old cell phone for safety
Project Donate a Phone is back on and the need is high, say officials for The Snohomish County Center for Battered Women.
The center is in need of old or new cellular phones, even ones with missing parts can help, Center officials said. Usable cell phones will be provided free to all women who use the center’s services. In case of emergency old phones can still be used to dial 911. The ones that can’t be used will be recycled to a business who has agreed to pay the non-profit organization for parts. To donate phones, drop them off at the Mountlake Terrace Police Department at 5906 232nd St. SW. For more information call Terri or Vicci at 425-259-2827.
Donate your old car for a local cause
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Snohomish County have started a car donation program. Funds from the program will benefit the activities of the Boys and Girls Clubs. For more information call 1-800-246-0493.
