Sewer costs to
go down for city
Sanitary sewer service costs will be “slightly lower” for Edmonds at the city’s treatment plant after the City Council approved Mayor Gary Haakenson to sign a termination agreement with the Town of Woodway July 6. According to an Edmonds City Council agenda memo, Edmonds officials in 1980 agreed to provide sewer service for the portion of Woodway that flows directly into Edmonds’ sewer system. Earlier this year, the Olympic View Water and Sewer District took over Woodway’s sewer system. The termination agreement now is needed to allow Woodway customers to register as OVWSD customers. A letter of understanding now will be signed by both the City of Edmonds and OVWSD documenting that Woodway connections will now be considered part of OVWSD’s service area which shares in the costs of (Edmonds’) Treatment Plant, the memo said.

The vehicles were leased for three years from the company and have since been paid off. According to a City Council agenda memo, the net value of the vehicles is estimated at $27,750 including the police accessories.
PFD member reappointed

Mahaffey’s three-year term expired June 19 of this year; the PFD board requested she serve another four years “in order to maintain continuity and stability on the board,” according to a City Council agenda memo. The group currently is working on fund raising, design and construction of the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
