Blood drive in Mountlake Terrace

The city of Mountlake Terrace will hold its third annual community blood drive on Friday, Sept. 10 in the Mountlake Terrace Library parking lot from 1-6 p.m.

The entire process, which includes a health history questionnaire, a brief physical exam, blood donation, as well as refreshments for donors, averages about 45 minutes.

The blood drive will feature a Puget Sound Blood Center “blood mobile” that will accommodate walk-ins as well as those individuals that contact Mike Pivec at 744-6216 or by E-mail at mpivec@ci.mountlake-terrace.wa.us in advance to schedule an appointment. To minimize wait times, an appointment is recommended.

Area regulations open house

An open house on draft critical area regulations in Mountlake Terrace will be held at the Council Chambers on Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. The open house will have informal displays and information regarding draft regulations. Immediately afterward, at 7 p.m., the Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing.

Festival, barbecue in Terrace

An old-fashioned barbecue and Mountlake Terrace community festival is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Recreation Pavilion. Activities include market vendors, carnival games, a disc jockey with karaoke, clowns, putt putt golf, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a tug-of-war competition between city departments and more.

Alderwood Sears celebrates

After an extensive remodel, the Sears store at Alderwood Mall is holding a grand reopening celebration on Saturday, Aug. 21 starting at 8 a.m. The event will feature free $10 Sears gift cards and candy for the first 250 customers who enter the store at the east/tool department entrance and contests to enter for a chance to win Sears shopping sprees.

Volunteers needed for new arts board

Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon is calling for volunteers to serve on the new Snohomish County Arts Commission board.

Reardon will appoint two of the new commission members while each of the five Snohomish County Council members will appoint a commissioner chosen from within their individual districts. Seven members total will be chosen.
