Burke-Gilman Trail advisory group

To participate in the Mayor’s Burke-Gilman Trail Task Force, residents must submit an application. Either pick up a copy at city hall or fill out a form at the city’s website, www.cityoflfp.com. Completed forms can be mailed to Burke-Gilman Trail Advisory Task Force, Mayor David Hutchinson, City Hall, 17425 Ballinger Way, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155. Application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, July 30.

32nd District Democrat events

The 32nd Legislative District Democrats have scheduled several upcoming events, the first of which is a picnic at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park 12-4 p.m. Saturday, July 24. The group suggests that candidates/campaigns arrive between 1-2:30 p.m. and a business meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m.

A spaghetti dinner fund raiser is scheduled 5:30- 7 p.m. Friday, August 13 at the American Legion Hall at NE 146th and 17th Ave NE in Shoreline, behind Albertsons. Cost is $5 per plate/$15 per family. An endorsement meeting will follow the dinner.

A candidate endorsement questionnaire is currently being prepared by the elections committee and e-mails and mail outs should be distributed July 29. For more information or questions, contact Cindy Ryu, campaigns coordinator at 206-362-8828 or 206-362-8832.

Parade of Ponds this weekend

The fifth annual Russell Watergardens Parade of Ponds, a tour of home gardens showcasing water features around the Puget Sound area – including Shoreline – is scheduled 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25.

With more than one hundred gardens featured, the Parade of Ponds is the largest tour of its kind in the Northwest and guaranteed to inspire would-be and veteran watergarden creators. Ticket proceeds will benefit uncompensated care at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center.

Tickets for the tour are $15 and can be purchased at Emery’s Garden (Lynnwood), Russell Watergardens (Redmond) or by logging on to www.russellwatergardens.com. Tickets are good for admittance to all gardens on the tour for both days and include detailed information on each water garden and driving directions.

Last year, the tour raised more than $10,000 for uncompensated care at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Care, and this year’s goal is to raise $15,000.

Night Out Against Crime set in LFP

The 21st Annual National Night Out Against Crime is scheduled Tuesday, August 3. It is a chance for neighbors to meet or get reacquainted. Neighbors who are familiar with each other are more likely to watch out for one another. Some suggested activities are potlucks, barbecues, ice cream socials, lawn parties, etc.

To have a National Night Out celebration, pick up a “National Night Out Registration Form” at Lake Forest Park city hall’s front desk or contact Pam Martin, LFP Police Department’s Crime Prevention Coordinator at 206- 364-8216, extension 545. Complete and return this form to your police department no later than Wednesday, July 28.

A street closure can be requested for parties by contacting Linda Page at the Police Department at 206-364-8216 or by contacting Pam Martin. A “Special Event Signage Permit Form” must be completed and returned to the Police Department no later than July 28. There is no fee for this permit.

Used book sale Saturday in LFP

Friends of the Lake Forest Park Library has scheduled a used book sale 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 24 at the Lake Forest Park Library, located on the first floor of Lake Forest Park Towne Centre, 17171 Bothell Way. For more information, call 206-362-8860.
