Youth theater camps coming up

The city of Mill Creek presents two Happy Endings Musical Theatre Camps starting June 21 and July 19. Both camps will be held for two weeks, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mill Creek Elementary School. These camps are open to children entering grades 3 to 8.

The camps are two weeks of learning songs, dance routines, building stage confidence, and preparation to perform a musical for family, friends and the community during the camp. Experience is not required. Classes are taught by Connie Gagnon and Dana Heinz-Skaggs. Cost is $160.

Hearing set for subdivision

The Snohomish County Hearing Examiner will have a rezoning hearing next week to allow a 129-unit subdivision of single-family homes in the Heatherwood neighborhood northeast of Mill Creek.

The area in question is on the west side of 35th Avenue SE approximately 900 feet south of the intersection of 35th and 132nd St. SE. It lies within an area the city of Mill Creek is considering annexing.

The hearing on the subdivision, called The Meadows by developer Pacific Ridge Homes LLC, is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 8 at the Earl Torgeson Hearing Room, 2802 Wetmore Ave., Everett.

Annexation meeting upcoming

City of Mill Creek staff will conduct a general annexation information meeting from 7-8:30 p.m. June 30 at Heatherwood Middle School’s cafeteria, 1419 Trillium Blvd. SE.

The meeting’s purpose is to provide information on city services, taxation, land use regulation and governance to residents located within the city’s urban growth area, which includes the Heatherwood and Heatherwood West neighborhoods near the Thomas Lake Shopping Center northeast of the current city limits.

Mill Creek Festival booths available

The Mill Creek Business Association is seeking businesses and non-profit organizations interested in having a booth at the fourth annual Mill Creek Festival, set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10 after the Run of the Mill race.

Confirmed activities this year include square dancing, an antique hot rod show, an appearance and demonstration by Snohomish County Fire District 7 and a dunk tank.

Donations needed for Rescue Pup

Rescue Pup, a Mill Creek-based non-profit organization that finds homes for stray sick and injured dogs, regularly needs donations to cover veterinary expenses.

Donations can be made at Pet Pleasers, a non-profit pet supply store the organization operates. Pet Pleasers is located next to Claire’s Pantry at the corner of 9th Avenue SE and 164th Street SE.

DARE chocolate shield fund raiser

Mill Creek police are selling police department chocolate shields for $2 to benefit the DARE program.

The shields were made from a mold that was designed with the Mill Creek water wheel and the words “Mill Creek Police.” The shields can be purchased at the police department’s service counter inside City Hall, 15728 Mill Creek Blvd.
