Aurora/Interurban update May 19
The city of Shoreline is hosting an open house to update the community on the first mile of the Aurora Corridor Project and the Interurban Trail Bridge Project from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, in the McAleer and Horizon Rooms of the Shoreline Conference Center, 18560 First Ave. NE.
The event will feature information regarding the 145th to 165th streets section of the Aurora Avenue project. This includes the urban design plan, right-of-way acquisition, utility undergrounding and construction staging. Interurban trail bridge information will include photo visualizations of the bridges, architectural and perspective sketches and public art concepts.

Work party at Brookside school
A work party is scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 22 at Brookside Elementary School, located at the corner of 37th Ave. NE and NE 178th Street.
Participants are encouraged to bring tools and do some weeding, digging and moving of raised beds. Volunteers should plan to bring a sack lunch to picnic with the community and school volunteers.

Relationships class offered
A class focusing on creating environments for loving relationships is scheduled 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 22 at Shoreline Parks and Recreation. The class is taught by Roberta Nelson and Therese Cayou and will explore how to look at living environments with new awareness and understanding.

Mountaineers at library
The Mountaineers, a non-profit recreation organization based in Seattle, will host a free information night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 20 at the Shoreline Library, located at 345 NE. 175th St.
A slide presentation will illustrate the various programs offered through the group, as well as highlight the role it plays in conservation and stewardship of Washington’s wild areas. Clothing drive benefits Children’s
The John L. Scott Highlands office is hosting a clothing drive to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital’s Shoreline Retail Store. The clothing drive runs from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. May 22-23.
The office is seeking clean, gently used clothing to donate to the store. In return, the store contributes 100 percent of profits back to Children’s Hospital. Collection bins will be in the John L. Scott Highlands parking garage located underneath the office at N. 148th St. and Greenwood Avenue North. For more information, contact Ronald Hadath at 206-361-1100.
Teen center moves temporarily
While Aldercrest Annex is remodeled, the Shoreline Parks &Recreation Department will operate the teen center at the Rec Center on Friday nights, (16554 Fremont Ave. N.) and at the Spartan Gym on Saturday nights, (18560 First Ave. NE.).
Youth can take shuttles to the new locations, which are driven by Shoreline Parks staff members. The van leaves from the entrance of Third Place Commons at 7:20 p.m. and returns at 11:45 p.m. both evenings. For more information, call 206-546-0662.
