Women’s club book event
Josephine Bobbitt of Mill Creek’s University Book Store will speak at the May 17 meeting of the Mill Creek Women’s Club. She will give short reviews of some of the most popular current best sellers.
This meeting is also the club’s annual book swap, where members bring books they’ve finished and exchange them for others. Any books left over are sold and the proceeds put in the Pathways account.

Garden club’s last meeting of season
The Mill Creek Garden Club’s final meeting of the season is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at the Mill Creek Country Club, 15500 Country Club Drive.
The business meeting and program will start at 11 a.m. It is scholarship award day and installation of the new officers for 2006-2007. Mill Creek Elementary school students and staff will make a presentation that will include this past year’s horticultural activities that they were able to complete with the monies donated by the garden club.
All interested gardeners can join the club. It meets the second Tuesday of each month from September through May at the Mill Creek Country Club. Annual dues are $25. Luncheon costs $17 for members and $20 for non members. The first fall meeting is 11 a.m. Sept. 12. For reservations, membership and questions, call Marlene King at 425-337-1316.
Friends of Library spring book sale
The Friends of the Mill Creek Library will be having their spring book sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the library, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway.
Volunteers have been busy sorting thousands of used and almost-new books and multimedia materials. A large variety of fiction and nonfiction, paperbacks, and hard cover books will be sold. Most paperbacks will be 50 cents, hard covers at $1. Clearance prices will be set at the end of the sale.
All proceeds go to the library for programs, story times, book discussions, special events and furnishings beyond the library budget. This spring the Friends will also award a new professional development grant to support literacy services in our community.

Ikebana exhibit at City Hall on Sunday
The Ikenobo School in Mill Creek will have an ikebana (Japanese floral arrangement) exhibition Sunday, May 7 at Mill Creek City Hall.
The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7 in the community room at City Hall, 15728 Main St. A demonstration by Yoshi Erickson takes place from 2-3 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
Club hosting mother’s luncheon
The Christian Women’s Club of Mill Creek is hosting an Honoring Mothers Luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11 at the Mill Creek Country Club, 15500 Country Club Drive.
The event includes a Mother’s Day fashion show from Catherine’s Fashions near Alderwood mall, and speaker Donna Kilgore from Baker City, Ore., an avid gardner and outdoorswoman.
