Town Center building approved
The city of Mill Creek’s Design Review Board approved the building design, materials, colors and landscaping for the 45,000 square foot LA Fitness building during a special meeting on Thursday, April 22.
The building will be built on the northernmost lot in the Town Center on the west side of Main Street. The club will feature exercise equipment, swimming pool, cardiovascular area, basketball court, kid’s club and juice bar.
Construction will begin this year, according to officials with the city and the Irvine, Calif.,-based company. The building will include a 3,000 square foot pedestrian plaza as required in the Town Center design guidelines.
Development up for review
A 62-home development just east of Mill Creek city limits is slated to go before the Snohomish County Hearing Examiner on May 11.
Stafford Homes is seeking to build the development on 13.95 acres at 13405 35th Ave. SE, just east of the city limits and south of 132nd Street SE. The development is tentatively slated to be called Westfield.
The hearing is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 11 at the Earl Torgeson Hearing Room, located on the second floor of the Cogswell College Building, 2802 Wetmore Ave., Everett.
Spring garage sale is Saturday
The Mill Creek Community Association’s annual spring garage sale is set for Saturday, May 1.
In addition to the garage sale, which starts at 9 a.m., the association will also bring in Goodwill, which will locate a collection/donation trailer at Chopper Park not only on May 1, but also May 2. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 1 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 2.

Rescue Pup rummage sale
Rescue Pup, a non-profit organization that helps abandoned and injured animals, will be having a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 30 and May 1 to help raise funds for veterinary expenses.
The sale will take place at the 180th Street SE and Bothell-Everett Highway next to Pounders in the old Pets Plus store.
Donations are sought for the sale. The group is seeking donations of anything but appliances, and the group is able to pick up items. Donations can also be dropped off at Pet Pleaser’s, 800 164th St. SE, Mill Creek, next to Claire’s Pantry.

Mill Creek Festival booths available
The Mill Creek Business Association is seeking businesses and non-profit organizations interested in having a booth at the fourth annual Mill Creek Festival, set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10 after the Run of the Mill race.
Confirmed activities this year include square dancing, an antique hot rod show, an appearance and demonstration by Snohomish County Fire District 7 and a dunk tank.
