Building heights

subject of hearing

The Edmonds City Council will take public comments on an interim ordinance that clarifies the intent of regulations regarding building heights in downtown Edmonds.

The hearing is slated for the Council’s regular meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 16 at the City Council Chambers, 250 Fifth Ave. N.

The interim ordinance states that buildings may be built to extend five feet beyond the downtown height limit of 25 feet only if a modulated, as opposed to flat, roof design is included. The original ordinance was written in such a way that has been interpreted as meaning that a modulated façade could substitute for a modulated roof.
