Dr. Seuss’ birthday party in LFP
The 100th birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, is being celebrated locally with events such as book readings, interactive Imagination Workshops, costume character appearances and treats for kids. The celebration is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday March 13 and Sunday March 14 at Third Place Commons.

Emergency response classes
The Shoreline Fire Department, together with Shoreline Police, will offer an eight-session Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class beginning 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8. The class will be every Thursday evening through May 20 at Shoreline Fire Department Headquarters, 17525 Aurora Ave. N.
The classes will be taught by Shoreline firefighters and police officers and will include information and hands-on experiences in basic fire suppression, triage and disaster first aid, light search and rescue, psychological effects of disasters, and personal, family and neighborhood preparedness.

Dragon boat racing symposium
A symposium about the ancient sport of dragon boating has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at Third Place Commons, 17171 Bothell Way NE. The one-hour information session is free and open to the public. Those who attend will learn about the 2,400-year-old water sport and the event is being organized by the Tacoma Dragon Boat Association in Seattle. Dragon boats are 43-foot long, narrow, brightly painted vessels propelled by 20 paddlers. The sport is international and is growing in popularity in the United States. Earth Friendly Garden Fair set
The Earth Friendly Garden Fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at Third Place Commons, 17171 Bothell Way NE. Those who attend will receive tips from experts on yard care and environmentally friendly gardening.
More than 15 exhibits will be displayed, with topics such as how to attract butterflies and birds; safe removal of noxious weeds, and alternatives to pesticides. Rain barrels will be for sale for $15. Children can participate in art activities and make their own potpourri. Receive a free gift when you attend workshops offered throughout the day. LFP seeks input on Cable TV
Lake Forest Park city officials are asking citizens for input regarding cable television service as they prepare to begin a dialogue with Comcast Cable Communications regarding a new cable television franchise. An online version of the survey is available at www.cityoflfp.com.
The surveys will be used to determine the interests of residents regarding the service the cable operator has provided in the past and ways the service can be improved.
