Mill Creek library increasing its hours

The Mill Creek Library’s doors will be open longer beginning in February.

Beginning Feb. 5, the Mill Creek Library, at 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway, will be open on Sundays during the school year from 1-5 p.m. In addition to this change, the library’s Saturday hours are changing to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

City shredding event times are set

Document Destruction Day, a free event in which Mill Creek-area residents can have personal documents shredded, takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 18 at Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Main St.

In addition, state legislators will have information on preventing identity theft and will be available to discuss other issues.

Design contract for Tucker Park

Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon has forwarded a recommendation to the County Council regarding an $89,000 contract with Worthy and Associates LLC for the design services of the second portion of phase one for Willis D. Tucker Park.

Construction costs for the infrastructure once designed and approved is estimated at $895,000.

The recently completed first portion of phase one includes a playground, baseball field, basketball court, administrative offices, activity center and conference rooms, lighting, landscaping, rain gardens, walking trails and a parking lot. Upon completion, phase one will cover 27 acres and cost about $4.7 million.

Tucker Park is being built in three phases. When completed the entire 84-acre park will include: three soccer fields, two baseball fields, two playgrounds, an amphitheater, restroom facilities, park trails, landscaping, lighting and a 15-acre off-leash dog park with trails.

The park is located along Puget Park Drive in Silver Firs, three miles east of Mill Creek.

Child safety seat installations

Snohomish County Fire District 7 offers child safety seat installation. Installation times are by appointment because not all fire stations have a certified child safety seat technician on every shift.
