Town Hall agenda

State legislators for the 21st District will field questions and concerns from area residents Feb. 18 at town hall meetings in Edmonds and Mukilteo.

Sen. Paull Shin, D-Edmonds, and Reps. Brian Sullivan, D-Mukilteo, and Mary Helen Roberts, D-Edmonds, will discuss Paine Field, aerospace development, the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL), sex offenders and other public safety issues, and other topics of concern to constituents.

The meetings are scheduled for:

• 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Edmonds Woodway High School, 7600 212th St. S.W., in Edmonds

• 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Harbour Pointe Middle School, 5000 Harbour Pointe Blvd., in Mukilteo

City history at library friends meet

Edmonds City Councilman Michael Plunkett, will address an open public meeting of the Friends of the Edmonds Library on the subject of a new interpretation of the early settlement of Edmonds, when they meet at 1:30pm, Thursday, Feb. 23 in the Library’s Plaza Room, 650 Main Street.

Years before George Brackett left the family lumber business in Maine, the vision of what Edmonds would become first beat in the heart of a young man living in the Edmonds “bowl”.

Plunkett, who has served the last eight years on the city council, holds a degree in history from Western Washington University and has done extensive research into early Edmonds’ history. He is also a member of the Friends of the Library

Wastewater plant design open house

The Alderwood Water and Wastewater District is hosting an open house so citizens can learn about the preliminary design of the Picnic Point Wastewater Treatment Facility.

The event is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the district’s headquarters, 3626 156th Street SW. Representatives of the district and facility design team will be available to answer questions.

Globetrotters

bring books

Two of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters will give children and their families a sneak preview of their antics at the Lynnwood and Marysville Libraries on Saturday, Feb. 18.

Books and basketball will take center stage at 10 a.m. at the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W. on Feb. 18, followed by a program at 1 p.m. at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St. The programs are open to the public and will include a Globetrotter-style reading, basketball tricks and a chance to get an autograph.
