The Mill Creek Friends of the Library and Mill Creek Senior Center are offering the community a chance to voice their perspective on money and politics during the group’s first community conversation event.

Mill Creek Conversations will present “Money and Politics” from 7-8:30 p.m., Feb. 24 at the Mill Creek City Hall Annex (Huntron Building), located at 15720 Main St., Mill Creek.

The conversation will include local election financing options. Craig Salins and Ken Dammand, Washington Public Campaigns, will ignite the discussion about campaign finance reform and fair elections.

Selma Bonham, secretary of the Friends, said this issue is important and the opportunity to speak will bring the community together for a conversation.

Bonham wrote in an e-mail that the event follows on the heels of the Supreme Court decision about corporate donations to campaigns and President Barack Obama’s response in his State of the Union address.

“Also we think our idea of getting people in our community together to talk about issues will be good for us,” she wrote.
