Conklin Appliance World in Lynnwood donated a new refrigerator to Edmonds Community College’s Services for Students with Disabilities office, and it will be used by students who need to keep certain medications, such as insulin, cool. It also stores the snacks diabetic students need to have on hand to regulate their blood sugar levels.
The office’s old refrigerator stopped working recently.
However, in less than 24 hours a local business delivered a new refrigerator to the office after a student brought the need to the owners’ attention.
Laverne Chisan, co-owner of Conklin Appliance World, said she was touched by the student’s request and responded quickly simply because, “It was needed.”
“It brings a good spirit here and we get more from giving than we give,” Chisan said.
