Council right to not raid parks fund

The Edmonds City Council made the right decision when it postponed a decision regarding taking money from the parks fund and funneling it into transportation projects.

That money – about $1.5 million annually – was tagged for parks, and should be used only for park projects and park land acquisition.

Without it, Edmonds could lose out on making, and keeping, the city as beautiful and community recreation-friendly as it is today.

Moving money from one fund to Band-Aid another is not the long-term solution City Council members say they want. Other options need to be researched and are rightfully a subject to be further explored in the upcoming budget season.
