While I was canning tomatoes, I was reminded of past hard times that may soon visit us again. I began life in a one-room log cabin with no electricity, well water, dirt roads, farm neighbors and a cotton gin not far away. My dad was unemployed. The experience has made me very judgmental about our present generation of lazy employees with poor parenting skills, schools that are a joke and a lot of would-be-political-parrots, most of whom don’t get it. Never fear. That old pendulum swings both ways and it’s about to swing again.
There will be a lot of belt tightening and automatic weight control, and garbage dumps will get smaller. Sweaters and socks will be popular again and when you rise in the morn you may see your breath in the cold air. How do I know this?
I have given away free seedlings for years to grateful neighbors. I began adding clothing and utensils this year that disappear in an hour. The depression some were worried about? It’s here folks! Lock your doors, hide your purse and tuck your fanny.
