Brews to D.C.

Edmonds’ American Brewing Company has been selected for SAVOR 2012, a national beer and food pairing event, June 8-9 in Washington, D.C.

According to the Brewers Association, a spot at SAVOR can be a brewer’s ticket to the big time. Only 60 breweries from across the country are chosen to pour their beer. An additional 14 breweries will serve beers alongside a menu designed by a select group of chefs.

American Brewing Company pairings will be Breakaway IPA – Citrus cured salmon, grapefruit, pistachio cream cheese; and Caboose Oatmeal Stout – Coconut macaroon, whipped crème fraiche, lemon zest.

Gluten free fair

Mountlake Terrace’ Manna Mills will hold its Gluten Free Gala 11 a.m.-5 p.m. April 29 at the store, 21705 66th Ave. W.

Try before you buy is the motto of the event, giving consumers a chance to sample products. Producers will also be on hand to answer questions and give away samples.

Select items will be on sale to give those with gluten intolerance or allergies better access to the food they need.
