The Edmonds Fire Department, American Legion Frank Freese Post 66 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8870 will conduct a disposal ceremony for unserviceable U.S. flags on Thursday, June 14, at Edmonds City Park.

Flags that are worn, torn or otherwise unfit for service will be burned beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Flag Day during a ceremony consistent with the United State Flag Code, according to Edmonds Fire Marshal John Westfall. The public is encouraged to turn in unserviceable flags and attend the event to pay their respects to the nation’s symbol.

Flags may be brought to Edmonds fire stations until June 14. Receptacles will be at Station 16, 8429 196th St. SW; Station 17, 275 Sixth Ave. N.; Station 20, 23009 88th Ave. W.; and Fire Department headquarters, 121 Fifth Ave. N.
