LYNNWOOD — Mark your calendars for the third annual Multicultural Fair in Lynnwood.
The free event, filled with cultural activities, entertainment and ethnic food, is intended to celebrate the diverse South Snohomish County Community.
“The event will introduce music, stories, customs, dances, arts &crafts and foods from different cultures to the citizens of South Snohomish County,” said Pam Graham, program director for the South Snohomish County Family Support Center and chair of Lynnwood’s Diversity Task Force.
Along with the Family Support Center and the Task Force, the New Cedar Valley Community School, Community Mobilization, Edmonds Community College, Interfaith Association of Snohomish County and Edmonds School District are cosponsoring The Third Annual Multicultural Family Affair.
The Multicultural Family Fair will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 24 at the new Cedar Valley Community School 19200 56th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. Admission is free.
The fun filled, all ages event will include: Booths, entertainers, ethnic foods, dancing, music and videos.
On the gymnasium floor, entertainers and dancers will perform and invite audience participation.
Arts and craft activities for all ages will be offered at a number of booths, and local artisans will demonstrate their art, including kite making, Chinese calligraphy, and soap stone carving. Also, over 1,000 books will be given away.
Entertainment this year includes Japanese drummers, Russian children singers, Filipino and Hawaiian dancers, Kids On The Block Puppets, and International Children Dancers.
Community groups representing various cultures will have displays engaging, informing and educating the public about aspects of their culture.
The Edmonds Community College Culinary Department will prepare and serve free samples of a variety of ethnic foods.
