What follows are updates on various road construction projects in the Mill Creek area:

City of Mill Creek

Work on the traffic signal at Mill Creek Boulevard and Main Street began Sept. 12. The contractor has begun installation of underground conduit for the new traffic signal. The concrete bases for the new poles were expected to be poured this week, according to a city memo, and the decorative sidewalk work should begin sometime next week.

In addition, the city has deemed the Dumas Road improvement project complete, since striping of the road took place Sept. 13-14. Remaining items of work include installing a handrail on top of the retaining walls and completing the final landscaping installation.

Meanwhile, construction on the final missing link of North Creek Drive began Sept. 6. The contractor has modified an adjacent stormwater detention pond, and road grading work is underway. The road is expected to be completed in approximately four weeks, weather permitting.

East of Mill Creek

Some new lane and road closures went into effect this week.

A full road closure of 41st Avenue SE between 152nd Place SE and 156th Street SE is in effect between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. through Oct. 18.

In that same area, a lane on 156th Street SE west of 41st will be closed, also until Oct. 18. Crews are in the area installing a storm drain system in conjunction with a Silver Lake Water District project. A detour route will be posted for the closure of 41st Avenue SE.

In addition, one lane of traffic on Seattle Hill Road at its intersection with 132nd Street SE, as well as a lane of traffic on Seattle Hill Road south of that intersection, will be closed during the day through Oct. 18. Crews are installing utilities and making frontage improvements.

A lane on Sunset Road between 169th Street SE and Strumme Road is closed during the day until Oct. 31. Crews are installing utilities and making frontage improvements for a future subdivision.

West of Mill Creek

A lane of westbound 164th Street SW east of North Road is closed during the day to allow crews to install a water main. The closure is expected to be in effect until Oct. 4.
