One man died and four people were taken to the hospital Christmas Eve after a head-on crash on 132nd Street Southeast, the Washington State Patrol said.
Just after noon, a black 1991 Honda Prelude headed east apparently crossed the centerline and smashed head-on into a green Toyota minivan, State Patrol trooper Kirk Rudeen said.
The Honda’s driver, a man in his mid- to late 30s, was critically wounded. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was pronounced dead, Rudeen said.
The four people in the minivan – apparently a family from Bothell – were taken to Providence Everett Medical Center Colby campus, he said. The family was in fair condition that same night, said a nursing supervisor, who refused to give her name.
Police found some items in the Honda that lead investigators to believe drugs may have been a factor in the crash, Rudeen said.
