Work on two major road improvement projects in the city of Mill Creek both began Jan. 3.

In the case of Dumas Road upgrades, work resumed Jan. 3 after the contractor took a week off for the Christmas holiday. Recent activity at the site has consisted of relocating an exisiting water line and installing new drainage and sewer facilities near North Creek Drive.

Work to install a large underground detention vault near Dumas Road’s intersection with the Bothell-Everett Highway was expected to begin yesterday, Thursday, Jan. 13. Substantial traffic delays are expected.

The 5-month long full road closure between North Creek Drive and the Park and Ride is tentatively scheduled to begin Jan. 31.

Meanwhile, work on the intersection improvements for 164th Street SE and Mill Creek Boulevard began Jan. 3.

The concrete foundation for the new traffic signal pole was poured on Jan. 6. Weather permitting, the contractor was scheduled to remove and replace the concrete curb and sidewalk on each corner of the intersection this week, resulting in daytime lane closures.

Outside the Mill Creek city limits, a single lane of traffic on 41st Avenue SE between 148th and 156th streets SE east of Mill Creek is closed during the daytime hours until March 3.

The closure will allow construction crews to install water and sewer lines in conjunction with a new subdivision.
