DYKEMAN has won a Merit Award from the Washington Chapter of the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI) for its work on Everett School District’s new Forest View Elementary School.

Drawings and photographs showcasing the project were submitted by DYKEMAN, which was in competition with 22 other projects submitted by 13 top level school design teams throughout the state.

Forest View Elementary was among three projects to earn Merit Awards.

The school entry earned the award for matching the design to the needs of the educational program; innovative solutions; sustainable design strategies; adaptability to changes in educational delivery; positive aesthetics and materials used; and reinforcement of the architecture of the surrounding community.

Everett School District Superintendent Carol Whitehead said, “Congratulations are in order for all who participated on this project, from the design and construction teams to the school board and school district staff.”

At the school’s official dedication last Spring, Principal Brenda Fuglevand said the new facility has “only begun to gather the awards it will earn for its design and construction, and we have many years ahead to celebrate the awards and the successes of students who will learn and grow in this incredible school.”
