EDMONDS — The Edmonds-Woodway girls tennis team is pumped up for the postseason.

Aside from a pair of losses to undefeated Jackson, the Warriors have won all of their matches, including a 7-0 victory over district rival Mountlake Terrace April 30 and a 5-1 win over Shorecrest Tuesday.

Edmonds-Woodway coach Dan Crist credits the team’s success to its depth and experience.

The Warriors also have come together as a team, according to No. 1 singles player Ashley Wagner.

“We have dedicated players with strong bonds,” Wagner said. “We’ve done totally awesome, losing to only one team, a great improvement from last year. Next year, we’ll probably take first.”

Crist also was pleased with the Warriors’ play this season and finishing second in the South Division.

“I’m happy as one can be with second,” he said. “(We) did better than last year.”

The Western Conference South Division tournament is scheduled for May 12-15 at Jackson High School.

“I think we’ll send someone to state,” Wagner said.
