Health, wellness and the resources available to women in Snohomish County is the theme of the fourth annual Women’s Conference Wellness: Mind, Body &Spirit, set for Apr. 10, Noon to 5:30 p.m., at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W, Lynnwood.
Topics will include homeopathy, hormonal changes, yoga and ayurveda, breast care, eating for anti-inflammation, and creative writing for healing.
Women’s Studies instructor Christine Greenway will present a workshop on body image and a Resource Fair of community agencies will introduce participants to local services for women.
The keynote speaker will be Pepper Schwartz, Professor of Sociology at the University of Washington and bestselling author of Prime: Adventures and Advice on Sex, Love, and the Sensual Years.
Her presentation will be on “Keeping Your Balance: Holding on to What’s Impor tant in Challenging Times.” She will sign books after her address and at a reception following the conference.

Everett Naval Station Everett celebrations 15 years of “Passion, Pride and Service” at a luncheon celebration from Noon to 1:30 p.m., with an optional Captain’s tour of the Navy base for guests from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The program, sponsored by the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce, features a “State of the Station” address by Capt. Thomas Mascolo, station commander.
Junior Achievement sets Apr. 28

Junior Achievement of Washington, whose financial education programs inspire students to become achievers in America’s free enterprise system, is hosting a celebration breakfast at the Tulalip Resort Hotel’s Grand Ballroom at 7:30 a.m., Apr. 28, for the business community.
As part of its promotion of April as National Financial Literacy Awareness Month, Junior Achievement is inviting the business community to learn about JA and hear featured speaker Scott Bedbur y, a top-rated advertising executive formerly associated with Nike, Inc. and Starbucks.
He is currently a freelance brand consultant, a member of the Board of Directors for Jones Soda, and CEO of Brandstream, Inc. Author of “A New Brand World,” Bedbur y was the marketing executive behind Nike’s “Just Do It” campaign, and the rebranding of Starbucks.
Each year JA teaches real-world economic lessons in classrooms for 100,000 students in Snohomish County and Western Washington.
America’s troubled economy has captured the attention of Congress, the White House and the media as the nation prepares to trillions of dollars to stabilize the country’s financial condition. Never has there been a better or more necessary time to bring JA’s economic classes for students to schools throughout Snohomish and King Counties, said President/CEO David Moore.
“To do that requires donations, volunteer instructors and related support from the business community.”

Sample South County Apr. 29
Local Food and Wine Expo
Sample South County, the first annual trade show event featuring a selection of food, wine, beer and more from top vendors in Snohomish County, is set for Apr. 29, sponsored by the South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce.
The community is invited to sample the finest selection of food and spirits from more than 15 local restaurants, while networking with other local businesses.
Participating locations, including Billy McHales, Buca di Beppo, Scott’s Bar and Grill, Rose Hill Chocolate Co., The Keg and more, will provide samples of signature menu items for guests to enjoy.
Wine 101 will share their expertise for local flavor with samples of wine.Enjoy the musical talent of the Scott Lindemuth Group.
Tickets to sample each booth are included in the cost of admission. Friends, family and co-workers are invited to join in helping make the firsttime event a success.
It will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW. Admission is $25. Vendors need to register by noon, Apr. 28, or earlier because of limited space.
