EdCC men win one of three games at tourney

Edmonds Community College made an early exit from the 2003 NWAACC men’s basketball championships March 7-10 in the Tri-Cities.

After edging Lane 82-80 in the opening round, the Tritons were eliminated with back-to-back losses to eventual runner-up Green River and Big Bend.

Sophomore forward Craig Roosendaal scored a game-high 32 points on 12-for-24 shooting in EdCC’s win over Lane. Roger Russaw added 16 points and Cameron Rowland had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Green River knocked the Tritons to the loser’s bracket with a 105-88 quarterfinal victory. The Gators forced 17 Edmonds turnovers and outrebounded the Tritons 48 to 39.

Roosendaal finished with team-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds and Russaw added 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting in a 85-72 consolation loss to Big Bend.

It was the sixth straight postseason appearance for the Tritons, who ended the season 22-8 overall.
