MOUNTLAKE TERRACE – Dr. Mark Silver, of Edmonds, is one of 10 physicians from across the state named the first annual recipients of Premera Blue Cross’ Healthcare Quality Leadership Awards.
The honors recognizes doctors who practice in one- or two-physician offices for promoting health-care quality and representing best practices in delivery of high-quality care. Silver is affiliated with Stevens Healthcare, with offices at 21616 76th Ave. W. #103, Edmonds.
In 2004, Premera released the Quality Score Card, which measured improvement in the delivery of care, efficiency and patient satisfaction. Like the Quality Score Card, the Healthcare Quality Leadership Awards recognize and promote high quality health-care.
Five physicians were selected from Eastern Washington and five from Western Washington – each for excelling in one of five areas representing a broad range of health care, from acute to chronic care.
By analyzing claims data, Premera was able to track how often members received care that aligns with nationally recognized guidelines.
“These physicians exemplify the high-quality care delivered each day by smaller clinics and solo practitioners throughout Washington state,” said Dr. Mark Sollek, the Premera medical director who leads Premera’s Healthcare Quality Leadership Awards initiative.
Besides Silver, Western Washington physicians recognized are:
• Dr. Frances Andriacchi, Olympia; breast cancer screening.
• Dr. Patricia Charochak, Puyallup; cervical cancer screening.
• Dr. Thomas Hamilton, Bellevue; diabetes blood test.
• Dr. David Springer, Seattle; management of ear infections.
