At approximately 3:40 p.m. Wednesday July 7, a white male suspect entered the Mobil car wash and gas station located in the 21400 block of Highway 99 in Edmonds, according to a press release from Edmonds police. The male suspect requested two packs of cigarettes from the 26-year-old female clerk. The clerk turned around to get the cigarettes and when she turned back toward the suspect, he was displaying a knife and demanded all the money, the release stated. The clerk complied with the demand and the suspect fled the store on foot with one of the packs of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money, according to police, and was last seen running west on 216th Street SW from Highway 99.
The nearest Edmonds patrol unit responded to the robbery from several blocks away and was unable to locate the suspect. A thorough check of the area by other patrol units also failed to locate the suspect.
Edmonds police said the suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches in height, medium build, weighing about 170 pounds. He has short, straight blond hair with no facial hair, and blue or green eyes. He also was described as having severe acne and scaring on his face, with very pink lips, straight teeth with a chin that sticks ouy further than his lips making his mouth appear sunken, according to the release. The suspect was wearing a yellow or orange visor, wire frame prescription glasses, a white t-shirt with an unknown logo on the back, light blue pants, described as possibly long shorts, and possibly white sneakers, police said.
The knife used by the suspect is also unique in appearance, and is described as an all-metal dagger type knife, police said. It is about 10 inches in length, and all one piece. The handle of the knife is described as having holes through it that are about a half an inch in diameter. The blade of the knife is sharp on both sides.
One witness to the incident believed he recognized the suspect from a prior contact and believes the suspect may live in the area of 52 Avenue West and 212 Street SW in Mountlake Terrace.
