Visit the Edmonds Art Walk this Thursday, Dec. 18 for a festive evening of local visual arts, live music, demonstrations and tastings with downtown Edmonds merchants.
Live music this month includes Christmas chamber music at ArtsNow (Edmonds Conference Center), country music karaoke at Johnny’s Sports Bar &Gril, Stig and Friends at Dolce La Belle, flute and drumming by Baer and Morgan at The Wishing Stone and blues and jazz by Damaged Goods with Dixon and Diffner at Cole Gallery.
Demonstrations include Danish Christmas decorations at Rick Steves’ from 6 to 7 p.m., book reading at Edmonds Art Gallery, watercolor at Aria Studio Gallery and mosaics at Manya Vee Selects.
Don’t pass up sampling wine and appetizers at Festivities and at Bluefish Designs, wine tasting at Arista Wine Cellars and cheese tasting at Resident Cheesemonger.
Get started on your walk at Johnny’s Sports Bar &Grill, where Karol Westphal’s paintings capture mesmerizing scenery and vibrant flowers. At Festivities Fine Gifts, enjoy wine, appetizers and sumi paintings by Zuolie Deng. Raymond James hosts Tina Marohn, who draws inspiration for her oil paintings from her connection with spirit and nature. The Wishing Stone features fine silver jewelry by Stephanie Pimentel. Visit HouseWares to enjoy Colleen Lambert’s collection of miniature paintings depicting scenes and still lifes.
Join Interiors of Edmonds for gift ideas and view prints as well as originals by several of their favorite artists. The ArtsNow Gallery at the Edmonds Conference Center hosts a Holiday Gift Show, featuring hand painted silk scarves, jewelry, glass, ceramics, paintings and other mediums. From 6 to 7 p.m., visitors can learn how to make traditional Danish Christmas decorations at Rick Steves’ Europe Through the Back Door. At Salon Pena, see how Kathe Bradley combines digital technology with nature’s beauty to bring fresh eyes to a scene. Semantics Gallery spotlights artist Marcio Diaz’s vibrant acrylic paintings.
Running In Motion joins the art walk as it shows off a new look and a new location in downtown Edmonds. At Resident Cheesemonger, Karen Ulvestad’s photography seeks color and texture within nature. The elegantly classical mosaics of Angie Heinrich’s mirrors, candle cups and jewelry boxes timeless are on display at Manya Vee Selects. Comstock Jewelers hosts Susan Park’s colorful paintings and porcelain “flower bones” sculptures. Coldwell Banker Bain highlights the art of Claude McCoy, who creates generative 3D &algorithmic abstract fine art images along with his photography.
At Arista Wine Cellars, view a great selection of artistic gifts, to be enjoyed along with a wine tasting. C’est la Vie features Compendium’s Creative Director Dan Zadra and his award-winning inspirational gifts, that can also be personalized. Bluefish Designs hosts the beautiful stained glass mosaic mirrors by Katherine Paiva and serves wine and appetizers. Edmonds Frame Design and Atelier spotlights Naoko Morisawa, who creates striking mosaics, intricately combining wood chips into colorful “paintings.” Cheryl A. Richey’s experimental and symbolic paintings, explore nature’s mysteries and wisdom, are exhibited at Dolce La Belle.
J Rankin Jewelers hosts “Building Imagery,” layers of meaning, media and texture in the experimental acrylic paintings of Tracy Kay Fraker. At Edmonds Bookshop, explore journals made the old-fashioned way with beautiful papers &handstitched bindings by Marston &Herbert. Cole Gallery &Artists Supplies introduces the brand new oils of gallery favorite Jennifer Bowman. Gallery North shows new works in clay and paper by Mara Sparks, part of the “Shapes and Layers” exhibition. Edmonds Art Gallery hosts Dr. Gloria Burgess in a reading of her book, “Dare to Wear Your Soul on the Outside.”
Ombu Salon features Michael Foster’s collection, demonstrating how information reacts with individuals in different settings. At the Edmonds Library, view a group exhibit of scientific illustrations by 15 members of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators-NW. Jennifer Reed’s love of wide-open spaces and the simplicity of nature captured in color photography can be seen at Stewart Chiropractic. Autumn’s Framing &Gallery hosts “On Soft Paws,” a cat-themed collection of pastels and paintings by Cheryl Hufnagel and Autumn Kegley. Aria Studio Gallery features new paintings and photography. Garden Gear highlights the metal and glass sculptures of Rollin Karg. Olives Café &Wine Bar highlights Nancy and Allen Young, the chef/owner’s parents, in a show of their abstract art, cast paper and encaustic creations.
