Longtime Edmonds School District Board member Bruce Williams has stepped down from his position on the board. The board accepted William’s decision at its Sept. 11 meeting. Williams started serving on the board in 1997.

“In all my experiences, what I have valued most is seeing the children of this community thrive in a myriad of ways — with ease, with disabilities, challenges and against substantial odds,” Williams said in a press release. “This organization, in supporting all these students, has stretched, bent and renewed itself, always keeping the focus on supporting children and families, empowering teachers, supporting staff and schools to make the process of learning as effective as possible.”

The term for the District 4 director seat runs through 2009. The board is required by law to appoint a replacement for the remainder of the term within 90 days. Those interested in submitting a letter of interest for the appointment must be a United States citizen, a Washington state resident and resident of the District 4 director area. District 4 covers the upper southwest portion of the Edmonds School District (Edmonds-Woodway High area).

Residents who meet the requirements may send a letter of interest by 5 p.m. Oct. 17 to the attention of JoAnn Kerns, Edmonds School District, 20420 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood, WA 98036 or call 425-431-7003 for more information.
