I am writing in response to the letter, “District needs to show fiscal responsibility” that implied the Edmonds School District has been mismanaging taxpayer dollars and conning homeowners for the past few years. What a complete and total joke!
Has the writer not heard of something most of us call the Great Recession? Did he not pay attention to the painful budget cuts the school district made last year? Does he not know that the Edmonds School District closed not one, but two schools?
Give me a break! Our school district has been making hard choices, exercising fiscal responsibility and doing a darn fine job of teaching to boot.
Not only is voting yes on the levy essential for our schools, but it is of paramount importance for our home values as well. These are tough times for real estate as well as education. Can you imagine the exodus from the Edmonds School District if our schools were sub-par due to lack of funding? This would affect all homeowners, whether or not they had school-age children.
Voting no on the levy would be shortsighted for both our children and our property values. Please voters, let’s look at the big picture and vote yes for our students and our future.
