Mac McDonald, 17, of Edmonds, became the 108th member of Boy Scout Troop 312 chartered out of the Edmonds United Methodist Church to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.

Only 4 percent of boys who enter scouting attain the rank of Eagle Scout.

McDonald, the son of John and Sandy McDonald and grandson of George and Esther Wandel, is a junior at O’Dea High School in Seattle.

For his Eagle Scout project, McDonald worked with Clothes for Kids a non-profit organization that provides no-cost wardrobes to low-income families in District 15.

McDonald reworked the laundry room, adding risers under the washer and dryer to make laundry easier for the volunteers, reorganized the work space, adding shelving to the display area, had the bathroom remodeled and helped paint the office.

Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout capped McDonald’s scouting career, which began in second grade.
