Election season begins

Several Shoreline and Lake Forest Park politicians have filed early to run in the fall election. Filing in the King County Elections office continues through Aug. 1.

A primary election is scheduled for Sept. 16 and the general election is set for Nov. 4.

Lake Forest Park

As of Enterprise deadline July 29, Lake Forest Park Mayor Dave Hutchinson filed for re-election to a four-year term along with all three incumbents for the Lake Forest Park City Council. City Council members Roger Olstad, Dwight Thompson and Ed Sterner filed for re-election to positions 2, 4, and 6, respectively for four year terms as well.

Shoreline

In Shoreline, three City Council positions are up for election and several candidates filed early.

As of July 29 three candidates filed early for the position 2 seat: incumbent Rich Gustafson and two challengers, George Daher and Cindy Ryu.

For position 4, currently held by Kevin Grossman, Maggie Fimia filed early.

For position 6, incumbent Bob Ransom filed, as of Enterprise deadline.

School Board

As of Enterprise deadline July 29 one candidate filed to run for the Shoreline School Board.

Sherry S. Marlin of Shoreline filed early for the position of director of District 5 seat currently held by Judy Parsons. Parsons announced earlier this year she does not plan to run for re-election.

No other candidates had filed by Enterprise deadline.

Seats held by Steve Robinson, who represents District 4 and Michael Jacobs who represents District 1, are also up this fall.

Those elected will serve four-year terms ending in 2007.
