As fall casts a golden glow over the waning days of summer, there is a wealth of art to be had from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, as downtown Edmonds hosts its monthly Third Thursday Art Walk.

A special feature awaits visitors at the Edmonds Conference Center this month. Scrapbooks, art journals, travel journals, and handmade art books come together to provide an overview of this unique art form. Edmonds artists Pam Harold, Libby Hustler, Linda Carl, Karen Tolliver, Joyeanna Chaudiere and Darlene McLellan reveal their most treasured pages. The show will feature live music by crooner Laura Dahl.

Photography gets a strong showing this month, beginning at C’est la Vie’s hosting of new works by Jim Nilsen. Engel’s Pub showcases nature photography by Kathy Young. Renee DeMartin is at Gallagher’s Where-U-Brew. Jo Marie Richmond’s hand-painted photos are at Joan Longstaff’s. Michele Ohge’s are at Salon Pena.

Watercolor artists can be found at three locations. Sapphire hosts local favorite Mary Anderson. Ambience hosts another local, Sue Reynolds. Aria Studio Gallery’s watercolorists Denise Cole and Joan Archer, have recently added oil painting to their watercolor expertise and will be on hand to demonstrate.

Other painting media can be found at Kindred Circle Art Gallery where Jane Fishel captures remote Northwest landscapes in rich pastels. Sarah Im’s pencil renderings of Washington fruit is at Housewares. Lynette Hensley’s mixed media works are at Arista Wine Cellars. Gallery North’s members do a miniature show. Patricia Roberts’ latest monotypes are at Main Street Gallery. Patti Forte Linna’s gorgeous pastels are at Olives Gourmet Foods.

For 3-dimensional work, Patricia Roberts brings her new direction to Main Street Gallery: fused glass, including pieces collaborated with her husband, which incorporate metal. At the Magic of Christmas, Halloween has found a niche with spooky décor just in time. C’est la Vie boasts Steve Mahler’s pottery. Borovina’s amazing collection of amber, silver and gold jewelry by talented artisans of the Baltic region shouldn’t be missed.

At the Edmonds Bookshop, local author Mary Potter Engel reads from her latest collection of short stories, “Strangers and Sojourners,” a collection of linked short stories set in Cosawaw County, South Carolina.

This free monthly event is hosted every third Thursday of the month throughout the year. Visitors can start their tour at the fountain at 5th and Main and look for the rainbow spinners. Maps are available at all participating merchants; maps and information are also available at www.EdmondsWA.com by clicking on Third Thursday Art Walk.
