One matter that gives me great concern if you go to McConnell’s Web site is her final platform statement in bold letters: “I will work to stop the never-ending council process and make timely, thoughtful decisions that respect our city staff and future generations.”

Unfortunately, this sounds to me as though McConnell opposes public participation at council meetings, public forums and in Citizen Advisory Groups, which is about as anti-democratic as one could hope would never happen.

Maggie Fimia has worked continually to foster public participation since she was sworn onto the city council.
