A large fire near Edmonds has, for the second time in three weeks, destroyed a family home.
More than 30 firefighters responded at 2:30 a.m., Jan. 9, to a fire in the 8100 block of 224th Street Southwest in unincorporated Edmonds near Esperance Park, according to fire officials.
Nobody was hurt, but the $400,000 home was destroyed, according to Edmonds Fire Department battalion chief Steve Allison.
An alert neighbor noticed the fire before fire alarms inside the home first went off, according to a fire department statement.
The home’s occupants, two parents and a child, were outside waiting when fire crews responded.
Investigators determined the fire started in the garage. A broken gas pipe then fed the flames.
The family that lived in the three-story home is being assisted by the Snohomish County chapter of the American Red Cross.
On Dec. 18, a three-alarm fire in the 9500 block of Forrest Dell Drive destroyed a two-story home where biodiesel had been produced.
Icy roads slowed fire crews responding to the Dec. 18 fire, said Edmonds Fire Department assistant fire chief Mark Correira.
