LYNNWOOD — Fire destroyed a home and nine vehicles in South Snohomish County the morning of April 8.
The house in the 13500 block of 26th Pl. W. and three cars parked in front were engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at 11:33 a.m.
“Flames were shooting up a large tree in front of the home and a column of smoke was visible from more than a mile away,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
Three people safely escaped from the burning house and there were no injuries.
Fire crews had a delayed response time because they were initially dispatched to an address on 26th Avenue SE on the east side of Interstate 5 when the fire was actually on 26th Place W on the west side of the freeway near Highway 99.
Bruce Pulver of the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office estimated the loss at $50,000 and determined the fire started in the clothes dryer.
The two men and one woman who lived in the house had insurance and are receiving assistance from the Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The vehicles, all owned by residents of the house, were uninsured.
