Voters have easily renewed Fire District 7’s request for a property tax levy renewal.

Results on Tuesday, Nov. 7 showed the measure passing with 59.3 percent approval. A simple majority was required for passage.

The vote renews the levy of $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed property values, the tax rate for the past several years. The owner of a $300,000 home pays $450 a year at the current tax rate.

Most of the revenue generated from the levy goes toward salaries for the district’s employees.

The levy does not apply to the city of Mill Creek, even though that city is served by the fire district. The city pays the district a flat fee each year in lieu of a levy.
