Both fire district levy renewals for districts that serve unincorporated Snohomish County around Mill Creek appeared to be on their way to passing.

Early results from the Tuesday, Sept. 14 election showed Fire District 7’s annual levy renewal to be passing with 60.2 percent approval, and Fire District 1’s two-year levy passing with 63.13 percent of the vote.

Fire District 7’s levy maintains the current 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed value rate, or $300 annually for the owner of a $200,000 home.

District 1’s levy increased the tax rate to $1.50 from $1.37 per $1,000 of assessed value, also $300 annually for the owner of a $200,000 home. That district serves the area west of the Mill Creek city limits and includes the Martha Lake area.

Both items only needed a simple majority to pass.

Neither levy appeared on ballots in the city of Mill Creek.
