Fire District 1 responded to 243 calls the week of Dec. 13-19.

Dec. 15

Fire District 1 crews responded to 36 calls: 22 emergency medical aid, seven motor vehicle collisions, four fires, one service call and two fire alarms.

At 7:11 a.m., firefighters took one patient to Stevens Hospital after responding to a collision involving a pickup truck and a recreation vehicle at Highway 99 and Manor Way.

At 5:32 p.m., firefighters extinguished a van fire in the driveway of a Mountlake Terrace home in the 22500 block of 60th Ave. W.

At 8:31 p.m., firefighters responded to a sports utility vehicle and a pickup truck that collided at 164th St. SW and 36th Ave. W. No one was injured

Dec. 19

Fire District 1 crews responded to 32 calls, including 22 emergency medical aid, six motor vehicle collisions, three fires and one service call.

At 12:11 p.m., two cars collided on southbound I-5 at 164th St. SW. Firefighters took one patient to Stevens Hospital.

At 6:25 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision at Locust Way and Magnolia Road and took one patient to Evergreen Hospital. A private ambulance was called to take another patient to Northwest Hospital.

At 6:32 p.m., firefighters responded to two cars that had collided on southbound I-5 south of 196th St. SW. One of the cars hit a concrete barrier. Firefighters took one patient to Stevens Hospital.

Dec. 18

Fire District 1 crews responded to 31 calls, including 20 emergency medical aid, three fires, three motor vehicle collisions, three service calls, one fire alarm and one carbon monoxide alarm.

At 8:46 p.m., District 1 firefighters responded to the 700 block of 196th Pl. SW to treat a patient who was injured in a collision that occurred at Damson Road and Filbert Road. The patient was taken to Evergreen Hospital by private ambulance.

At 6:28 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision at Highway 99 and SR 525. One patient was taken to Stevens Hospital by private ambulance.

Dec. 17

Fire District 1 crews responded to 38 calls, including 21 emergency medical aid, four motor vehicle collisions, five fires, two service calls, five fire alarms and one carbon monoxide alarm.

Firefighters took one patient to Providence Everett Medical Center after responding to a one-car collision in the 13000 block of Picnic Point Road at 4:50 p.m.

Firefighters assisted two elderly women who had a flooded bathroom at their home east of Brier at 6:13 p.m.

A pedestrian was hit by a van at 216th St. SW and 66th Ave. W in Mountlake Terrace. Firefighters responded at 5 p.m. The patient did not want to go to the hospital.

A homeowner called 911 when he returned to his house in the 6500 block of 135th Pl. SW and found the garage filled with smoke at 8:27 p.m. He and his neighbor discovered the smoke was coming from the freezer and removed the appliance from the garage before firefighters arrived. Firefighters checked to make sure the fire had not extended into the structure. They discovered a scorched extension cord that was being used to power the freezer and Christmas lights.
