Fire District 1 responded to 280 calls the week of Dec. 24-30. Fire District 1 serves the neighborhoods of Silver Firs, Lake Serene, Picnic Point, Martha Lake, Lake Stickney and the cities of Mountlake Terrace and Brier.

Dec. 24

Firefighters responded to 57 calls, including 44 medical aid, nine motor vehicle accidents, one fire, one false alarm, one mutual aid and one service call.

At 2:49 p.m., firefighters responded to a three-car collision at 164th St. SW and 36th Ave. W. and took one patient to Stevens Hospital.

Firefighters took two people to Providence Everett Medical Center after a two-car collision at Bellflower and North Road at 10:51 p.m.

Dec. 25

Firefighters responded to 36 calls, including 26 medical aid, one motor vehicle accident, three service calls, one illegal burn, two wires down, two fires and one automatic fire alarm.

Firefighters responded to a flooded garage at home in the 10100 block of 21st Ave. SE. at 5:25 a.m. and a flooded apartment in the 4400 block of 144th Place SW. at 6 a.m.

At 10:04 a.m., firefighters responded to investigate the smell of smoke in an apartment near Mariner High School. They discovered there had been a small fire in the closet, but it was out when firefighters arrived. An investigator from the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office determined the fire was most likely started by a young child playing with matches. The fire caused about $5,000 damage. The family was given information about the Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program available through Fire District 1.

Dec. 26

Firefighters responded to 41 calls, including 28 medical aid, four fire, three motor vehicle accidents, one wires down, one illegal burn, two service calls, one carbon monoxide alarm and one mutual aid.

At 10:52 p.m., firefighters were called to 128th St. SW. and 4th Ave. W. where an SUV rolled twice. One patient was taken by aid car to Providence Everett Medical Center.

Dec. 27

Firefighters responded to 33 calls, including 30 medical aid, one motor vehicle accident, one car fire and one smoke investigation.

At 2:07 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision at 216th St. SW. and 44th Ave. W. in Mountlake Terrace. One patient was taken by aid car to Northwest Hospital.

Dec. 28

Firefighters responded to 35 calls, including 29 medical aid, one motor vehicle accident, one natural gas leak investigation, one mutual aid, one automatic fire alarm, one service call and one wires down.

At 10:50 p.m., firefighters responded to Gibson Road and Highway 99 where a car collided with a parked semi-truck after a traffic pursuit. One patient was taken by medic unit to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after being extricated from the wreckage by firefighters.

Dec. 29

Firefighters responded to 36 calls, including 28 medical aid, two motor vehicle accidents, one fire, three service calls, one automatic fire alarm and one mutual aid.

At 7:56 a.m., firefighters responded to a three-car collision with air bag deployment.

Dec. 30

Firefighters responded to 42 calls, including 31 medical aid, two fires, six motor vehicle accidents, one carbon monoxide alarm, one automatic fire alarm and one mutual aid.

At 1:15 p.m., firefighters responded to a car fire at Highway 99 and State Route 525.
