Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 271 calls the week of Dec. 31-Jan. 6. Fire District 1 serves the neighborhoods of Silver Firs, Lake Serene, Picnic Point, Martha Lake, Lake Stickney and the cities of Mountlake Terrace and Brier.
Dec. 31
Crews responded to 36 calls, including 23 medical aid, four automatic fire alarms, three fires, one fuel spill, one motor vehicle accident, one illegal burn, one mutual aid, one natural gas leak investigation and one service call.
At 6:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a shed fire at the Martha Lake Mobile Home Park in the 400 block of Lakeview Road. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and kept it from spreading to other structures.
Jan. 1
Crews responded to 43 calls, including 26 medical aid, five automatic fire alarms, two mutual aid calls, three motor vehicle accidents, two fires, one wires down, three service calls and one natural gas leak investigation.
At 10:05 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire call at Carriage Club Estates in the 13300 block of Highway 99. A resident reported the smoke alarm was sounding in her mobile home and smoke appeared to be coming from the furnace. The woman was outside when firefighters arrived. She said she turned off the furnace before leaving her home. Firefighters discovered the furnace had overheated and advised the woman to have the furnace checked by a technician before using it.

Crews responded to 43 calls, including 35 medical aid, two motor vehicle accidents, one mutual aid, three fires, one natural gas leak investigation and one automatic fire alarm.
At 12:27 a.m., firefighters responded to a car that flipped on the southbound on-ramp from State Route 525 to Interstate 5. Firefighters extricated one patient and took him to Providence Everett Medical Center.
At 10:28 p.m., firefighters responded to a report that a furnace had exploded at a mobile home in the 800 block of 124th Street SW. The residents left the house which was filled with light smoke. Firefighters used fans to clear the smoke and discovered charred wires and relays in the furnace, but no fire. Firefighters advised the residents not to use the furnace until it was repaired.
Jan. 3
Crews responded to 44 calls, including 29 medical aid, one investigation, three automatic fire alarms, five motor vehicle accidents, four fires and two mutual alarms.
At 6:46 a.m., a bicycle rider injured in an accident at Bing Road and Damson Road was transported by medic unit to Providence Everett Medical Center.
Jan. 4
Crews responded to 31 calls, including 23 medical aid, two motor vehicle accidents, one fire, two automatic fire alarms and three mutual aid calls.
At 1:22 p.m. Firefighters responded to a stove fire at an apartment in the 12400 block of Admiralty Way. When firefighters arrived, they found the resident had extinguished the fire. They used fans to clear the smoke from the apartment.
Jan. 5
Crews responded to 33 calls, including 27 medical aid, two motor vehicle accidents and four automatic fire alarms.
At 4:33 p.m., firefighters responded to 134th Place SE and North Snohomish-Cascade Drive after a man was struck by a car. The patient was taken by medic unit to Providence Everett Medical Center.
At 4:43 p.m., firefighters responded to 164th Street SW. and Larch Way to treat a person who was struck by a vehicle while riding a moped. The car that struck the person fled the scene. The patient was taken by aid car to Stevens Hospital.
Jan. 6
Crews responded to 41 calls, including 26 medical aid, three automatic fire alarms, two illegal burns, six motor vehicle accidents, one mutual aid, one service call and two fires.
At 6:26 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a condominium in the 13000 block of Admiralty Way where a resident heard an alarm in the neighboring unit and smelled burning food. Firefighters forced entry into the unit, which was filled with smoke. They found a loaf of bread on the stove burner which was turned on. Fans were used to clear the smoke.
