The Edmonds Fire Department made 105 calls in and around Edmonds from Oct. 11-17, bringing the total calls for the year to 4,000.
Oct. 11
Medics treated 13 patients before taking 10 of them to Stevens Hospital.
Oct. 12
Medics responded to 14 calls during the day.
Firefighters responded to a water problem at the Aldercrest Nursing Home on 72nd Ave. W. An exterior water pipe had broken resulting in a flooded parking lot and some flooding in the building. The crew shut off the water, vacuumed up the water in the building and unclogged the parking lot storm drain.
Firefighters responded to three false alarms, one of which was caused by a curious 18 month old child who, while leaning over his mother’s shoulder, couldn’t resist pulling the interesting looking lever.
Oct. 13
Medics went on 13 calls including tending to a female driver of a car which hit a tree in the 100 block on Woodway Park Road.
Firefighters responded to a reported fire at a residence in the 18900 block on Olympic View Dr. It turned out to be a small fire in the fan cabinet of the furnace due to a breaker malfunction which burned the fan motor, wiring and filter.
Firefighters also responded to a call by a resident in the 7800 block on 203rd St. SW who reported that the contents of his garbage can were on fire. Before the crew arrived the resident had managed to extinguish the fire which he said was set by occupants of a passing car.
Oct. 14
Medics treated 13 patients, taking eight to Stevens Hospital.
Oct. 15
Medics treated six patients and took all to local hospitals.
Firefighters responded to five false alarms, two for suspected natural gas leaks and one caused by a four-year-old boy who pulled an alarm at Krueger Clinic.
Oct. 16
Medics responded to six calls.
Firefighters assisted the Mountlake Terrace Fire Department in extinguishing a fire in a retirement home in the 23000 block on 55th Ave. W. The fire had been caused by a burned-out motor in the access elevator shaft room.
Firefighters responded to reported smoke coming from the woods in the 9300 block on 244th St. SW. The crew extinguished a smoldering stump surrounded by food and drinks, but nobody was present.
Oct. 17
Medics treated 11 patients, taking seven to Stevens Hospital.
