Fire Sirens

The Edmonds Fire Department made 93 calls in and around Edmonds from Dec. 20 – 26, bringing the total calls for the year to 4,977.

Dec. 26

Medics treated 12 patients including the male driver of a vehicle which was rear-ended in the 200 block of Edmonds Way. He suffered a possible spine injury, was backboarded and transported to Stevens Hospital.

Firefighters responded to a report of a carbon monoxide detector going off in a residence in the 17600 block of Olympic View Drive. The lady in the unit, who had been suffering from headaches, nausea and vomiting for several days, took her family and dog to a relative’s home until the furnace could be repaired.

Dec. 25

Medics responded to six calls.

Firefighters assisted the Lynnwood Fire Department in extinguishing a commercial building fire in the 19500 block of 44th Avenue W.

Dec. 24

Medics treated 10 patients before transporting six to Stevens Hospital.

Firefighters responded to a reported fire in the Olympic View Apartments in the 300 block of Howell Way. The crew found smoke coming from a third-floor unit caused by an overheated toaster oven.

Dec. 23

Medics were called out on 15 calls, which included tending to a lady who apparently had suffered a seizure, causing her to lose control of her car which rolled over. The crew removed her from the car, backboarded her and transported her to Stevens Hospital for further evaluation.

Firefighters responded to a report of thick smoke in a building in the 700 block of Main Street. A kiln had overheated filling the area with smoke which the crew cleared away.

Dec. 22

Firefighters responded to a water problem in a warehouse in the 7100 block of 212th Street SW. The crew found a broken sprinkler pipe, which had been broken by the overhead garage door coming off its tracks. The crew turned off the water and advised the manager to maintain a fire watch until the system was repaired.

Firefighters also responded to a reported brush fire in the 8000 block of 190th Street SW. A small fire, which had been a portable outhouse, was found in the north parking lot of Sierra Park and was extinguished.
