The Edmonds Fire Department made 94 responses in and around Edmonds from Dec. 8 – 14, bringing the total calls for the year to 4,619.

Dec. 14

Medics responded to 15 calls including tending to a driver in a car accident in the 7900 block of 236th Street SW. The driver, being chased by the police, ran into a fence and then had an altercation with the police. He was transported to Stevens Hospital in restraints.

Dec. 13

Medics responded to 15 calls which included treating patients in two-car accidents. The first accident involved a driver running into a tree in the 22900 block of 108th Avenue W. He suffered lacerations and was transported to Stevens. The other accident involved two cars at 230th Street SW and Highway 99 where one driver, who suffered chest and shoulder injuries, was also transported to Stevens Hospital.

Firefighters responded to a fire in a structure in a mobile home park in the 23100 block on Edmonds Way. The fire, which was confined to the living room, was started by the resident cleaning with gasoline. She suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to Stevens.

Dec. 12

Firefighters were called upon to set up a helicopter landing at Edmonds- Woodway High School where they transported the Airlift Northwest to Stevens Hospital to pick up a patient and return to the waiting helicopter for flight to the Harborview Medical Center.

Firefighters were called to the Post Office on Main Street where a truck in the back lot had leaked fuel which was running into the storm drain. Absorbents were placed on the ground and absorbent pads in front of the storm drain.

Medics responded to 11 calls including tending to two patients in a T-bone vehicle accident in the 22100 block of Highway 99. The driver and passenger of the vehicle struck on the passenger side suffered minor injuries but refused transportation to a hospital.

Dec. 11

Medics responded to nine calls which included four patients who had flu symptoms.

Dec. 10

Medics responded to eight calls.

Dec. 9

Medics responded to eight calls, including tending to a driver of a truck that struck a pole head-on in the 11700 block on Unoco Road. The driver suffered slight head injuries but refused transportation to a hospital.

Dec. 8

A reported water problem in an apartment building brought out the Fire Department. Upon arrival at the scene in the 23200 block of Highway 99 the crew found water leaking into an apartment on the second floor through the ceiling light fixture. The water originated from a leaking toilet in the apartment above necessitating shutting off the water and contacting emergency maintenance.
