The Edmonds Fire Department made 101 responses in and around Edmonds from December 1-7, bringing the total calls for the year to 4,525.

Dec. 7

Medics responded to eight calls.

Dec. 6

Medics responded to six calls during the day.

Firefighters were called upon to set up a helicopter landing zone at Edmonds Woodway High School where they transported the Airlift Northwest crew to Stevens Hospital to pick up a patient and return to the waiting helicopter.

Dec. 5

Medics were called out on seven emergencies.

Firefighters responded to a reported fire on top of a power pole above a transformer in the 22400 block of 100th Avenue W. The crew blocked traffic and contacted the PUD who cut power to the pole so the crew could extinguish the fire.

Dec. 4

Firefighters responded to a report that a boat in the marina was leaking gas. A small amount of oil had leaked into the water, so the boat was removed from the water by the port staff and the Coast Guard was notified.

Medics were called out on nine calls which included caring for a young lady who was struck by a car leaving a parking lot in the 23500 block of Edmonds Way. She suffered a knee injury and was transported to Stevens Hospital.

Gusty winds brought out the firefighters twice to assist in removing tree branches from power lines.

Dec. 3

Medics responded to 11 calls during the day.

Dec. 2

Firefighters responded to a reported water problem in an apartment house in the 8500 block of Bowdoin Way. An overflowing toilet on the second floor caused water to drain down into the basement causing damage to some light outlets. The water was shut off and the manager advised of the problem.

Firefighters also responded to a garbage can fire in the 5900 block of 188th Street SW which they extinguished.

Medics responded to 14 calls which included two accidents involving vehicles.

The first accident was a rear ender in the 22900 block of Highway 99 where the driver of the car hit from behind suffered possible rib injuries. The second accident involved a pedestrian being struck by a car in the 200 block of Edmonds Way. A young lady, pushing a child in a stroller, was hit a glancing blow and suffered minor abrasions. The mother and child were transported to Stevens Hospital for further evaluation.

Dec. 1

Medics responded to 11 calls including tending to a young boy who was accidentally hurt by his father’s truck. The boy had been playing behind the truck, unbeknownst by his father who backed over him. The youth suffered a shoulder injury and was backboarded to the Harborview Medical Center.
