The Edmonds fire Department made 76 responses within and around Edmonds during the week of June 16 22, bringing their total calls for the year to 2,237.

June 22

Medics responded to nine calls once again, including a three-car collision in the 22600 block of Highway 99. One driver, attempting to pass another car, struck the car and then spun out hitting the third car. The driver of the car attempting to

pass, suffering from hand lacerations and a possible neck injury, was back boarded and transported to Stevens Hospital for further evaluation.

June 21

Firefighters responded to a dumpster fire in the 20800 block of 76th Avenue W.

Upon arrival, the firefighters joined the EPD in extinguishing the fire.

Medics responded to nine calls.

June 20

Medics responded to seven calls, two of which were vehicle accidents. The

first accident, occurring in the 21200 block of Highway 99, involved a car

being rear-ended by a school bus. The driver of the car complained of neck pain but refused transportation by the medics to a hospital. The second accident, occurring at 220th Street SW and 92nd Avenue W., involved a car running into a telephone pole. The driver, suffering neck and back pains, was transported to Stevens Hospital.

June 19

Medics were called out for nine emergencies.

June 18

Medics responded to six calls including a woman who suffered an allergic reaction from a wasp sting. She was treated and rushed to Stevens Hospital for treatment of anaphylactic shock.

Firefighters responded to a complaint about burning in the 9800 block of 243rd Place SW, where a homeowner had a large “cooking fire” in his backyard, which was actually an illegal brush fire. He extinguished the fire with his garden hose.

June 17

Medics responded to 10 calls and transported all ten patients to Stevens Hospital after their initial treatment.

A reported bark fire in the 23800 block of Highway 99 behind a vacant store brought out the firefighters who extinguished the fire with tank water.

Firefighters also responded to a brush fire near a house in the 9600 block of Firdale Avenue. The fire, which had been contained to some shrubs, an entrance sign and a portion of a telephone pole, had been extinguished before the fire crew had arrived. The cause of the fire was not determined.

June 16

Medics responded to 11 calls during the day.

Firefighters responded to a reported stump fire in the woods near the 5300 block of 228th SW. When the crew arrived at the “campsite” area, the stump fire had been put out by someone and only embers remained. The crew cut the stump apart, dug up the ground around the stump and saturated the area with water.
