The Fire Sirens column is provided by firefighters from the Lynnwood Fire Department. They made 123 responses the week of Dec. 29- Jan. 4.
Dec. 29
Seven responses were made to surrounding jurisdictions as part of automatic mutual aid agreements. Engine 15 responded to the 4300 block of 148th St. SW for a report of an illegal burn. They found a family that had started a fire to keep warm while they butchered a goat.
Dec. 30
An 80’s year old female from the 4700 block of 176th St. SW was transported to Stevens Hospital for the second day in a row with severe back pain. Aid 15 and Engine 15 responded to the 4500 block of 200th St. SW for a vehicle into a store, no one was injured. Aid 14 responded to the 6600 block of 204th St. SW for a 20’s year old female that was nine months pregnant and having contractions less than two minutes apart. Patient was transported to Stevens Hospital.
Dec. 31
Aid 15 and Engine 15 responded with units from Snohomish County Fire District #1 to a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) on southbound I-5. Four patients were transported to nearby hospitals. Engine 15 responded on three Automatic Fire Alarms (AFAs) including the last call of the year which was located on the 20600 block of 44 Av. W.
Jan. 1
The first call of the year was to the 6500 block of 176th St. SW for a playground slide that was on fire. Assistance was given to Fire District #1 for a suspected apartment fire, no fire was found. Engine 14 responded to the 7500 block of 196th St. SW for a suspected hazardous material spill. It was found to be approximately 20 cans of latex paint that someone had illegally dumped in a vacant lot. Medic 15 ran its first call as City of Lynnwood employees to the 17500 block of Hwy. 99 for a 69-year-old male with breathing difficulty. Patient was transported to Stevens by Aid 15.
Jan. 2
Eight medical responses were made with three for people with breathing difficulty and two for fall patients. Four responses were for AFAs with two to the same apartments on the 17500 block of 52nd Ave.
Jan. 3
Engine 15 and Aid 15 assisted Fire District 1 with a residential fire on the 900 block of 143rd St. SW. Thirteen medical responses were made. Two responses for MVAs with both being non-injury.
Jan. 4
The busiest day of the week with 24 responses. Commercial fire on the 5900 block of 196th St. SW. Fire was contained to the kitchen with smoke damage throughout the building. Damage was estimated at $80,000. Seventeen responses were made with six transported by fire department personnel. A 63 year-old male with a seizure disorder called twice and was transported to Stevens the first time and to Group Health Eastside the second time.
